Quests are Battle Stations newest feature for Set Sail. These quests are basically just missions that one can do anytime they wish as many times as they want to do them. Some quests allow the player to find rare items and some allow the player to encounter NPCs that are relevant to the quest (ie Dune Manta hunting will give you the manta NPCs, etc, etc). The quests get increasingly more rewarding and require more AP and crew members as you progress.

In order to unlock higher-level quests, one must complete lower-level quests first. The first two quests (the one in the upper-left-hand corner and the one next to it in the middle) are unlocked by default in all ports except Aeros. In order to unlock the quest in the upper-right-hand corner, you must complete the second quest a few times (as in four or five times) until you get a message saying that you have unlocked a new quest.

To unlock the first quest in the second row, you must complete the third quest in the top row four or five times. The quest that is unlocked is in a different port (at least it tells you which one).

The probability of unlocking a quests is: Number of tries x 5% (capped at 20%) + Min[level/20, 10%]. So the max chance is 30%¹⁾.
